Event Recap

We just finished our Boulder event on July 31 and August 1. While we did not fill the stadium’s 50,000 seating capacity, I am convinced that God had the people He most wanted present at “A Time to Honor.” Also, the event was carried on the Daystar television network, by Denver Christian radio station KPOF and globally on the Internet, allowing thousands more to participate.

I am also convinced that what happened on July 31 and August 1 was just the beginning of a sweeping move of God that will continue to take deep root within the Body of Messiah.

Coach McCartney and I want to thank everyone who participated, and for those who prayed for this event. From the very first moments, we felt a strong presence of the God’s Spirit.

A dramatic statement of solidarity was made with the Jewish people at large and the many Messianic Jews in attendance.

Messianic Jew Adam Fruh told the story of Jewish persecution
in Nazi Europe. When Coach McCartney was asked by Fruh if he
would wear the Jewish star as a statement of solidarity with the Jews, Coach emotionally said would wear it with great humility, resolve, and as a warrior.

Thousands in the audience followed Coach’s example by voluntarily receiving Jewish stars as a further sign of solidarity with the Jewish people. On Saturday morning, women were welcomed and honored, followed by the honoring of the poor. Gary Smalley explained that honoring women came down to practicing patience, kindness, and generosity – and that the honoring of women brings about transformative power through God’s love. We were then challenged by both Pastors Tommy Barnett and Tony Evans to minister honestly to all people, and to rethink the issue of poverty. On Saturday afternoon, the Messianic Jewish experience was celebrated with modern praise music.

You, no doubt know that I have been long known for having a ministry of
reconciliation. What I experienced at the Boulder event brought joy to my heart as
there was a wave of peace between Jewish and Gentile believers, women and
the poor. By the time the event ended there a strong sense of bonding and unity,
affecting everyone in attendance, highlighted by the chanting of the Aaronic
blessing from Numbers chapter six.

At the event, we made an appeal to support impoverished Jews in Israel.
It is a sad reality that many Messianic Jews in Israel are discriminated against and somewhat ostracized from the rest of Israeli society. Furthermore, Messianic congregations and fellowships – of which there are nearly 100 in Israel – struggle from week to week to make ends meet. Despite all this, more Israelis than ever are beginning to examine the claims of Yeshua and embrace Him as their personal Messiah.

I appeal to you to help us bless the Jewish believers in Israel by sending a tax-deductible donation to the Road to Jerusalem. We are directly administering the “HaTikvah (Hope) Project” for the purpose of blessing struggling Messianic Jews in Israel. Let’s keep the spirit of bonding and unity going that began at “A Time to Honor!”

Also, as we catch our breath after such a major event like “A Time to Honor,” there are some event expenses that must still be met and we want to begin planning and organizing our next events and conferences. Your gift to help us clear up any outstanding expenses will be deeply appreciated. Thank you!

Dear Coach, Raleigh, and R2J Staff,

I wish to share a brief testimony of God's power, provision, and breakthrough that occurred within our congregation (Congregation Zion's Sake, Newport News, Va.) as a result of the "Road to Jerusalem" Conference held in Hampton, Virginia on July 21st and 22nd, 2006.

Our Congregation co-sponsored this conference with the World Outreach Worship Center. As co sponsors and members of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America (MJAA) we were well versed concerning the mission, vision, and calling of the Road to Jerusalem ministry. Our congregation prepared for months in advance of the meeting. We advertised, fasted, prayed, and volunteered in order to maximize the attendance of our Christian brothers and sisters. We even cancelled our weekly Shabbat service (our main weekly service) in order to facilitate maximum participation and support of the conference by our congregation. We attained 100% conference registration of our congregation! This alone was a miracle! Canceling our main weekly service was a major sacrifice for us knowing the funds lost by not receiving an offering that week would place us in a financial extremis.

The conference began Friday evening, July 21st 2006 with God's presence already with us. There was a full house in attendance as we entered into Shabbat! God moved mightily as worship and God's word went forth! Dozens of churches were in attendance, receiving Yeshua's call for Messianic Jew and Gentile reconciliation, understanding God's call and rising to the challenge of supporting the greater Messianic Jewish movement!

How do I know the message was received? We normally (before the Road to Jerusalem conference) would have about 225-250 people in attendance at our weekly Shabbat service. The first Shabbat after the R2J conference we had over 380 in attendance, both Jew and Gentile! Numerous Christians brought unsaved Jewish People with them. This momentum continues on culminating in a record breaking Rosh Hashanah service attendance of just under 500 people! The Christian body is supporting us spiritually, physically, and financially according to scripture! They are provoking unsaved Jews to jealousy and bringing them to our Shabbat services.

I would like to share one more powerful miracle! Monday morning, immediately following the R2J conference, our office manager deposited funds into our congregation's bank account a sum that equaled our normal offering. God honored our sacrifice! He had provided our financial need in a supernatural way, not one bill was paid late nor payroll one cent less than normal!

As a direct result of the Road to Jerusalem Conference we are experiencing "Life from the Dead" as Paul explained in Romans Chapter 11. Our attendance continues to swell and blessings are flowing from the heavenlies as Yeshua's words come to pass from John 17:23. "I in them and you in me, all being perfected into one. Then the world will know that you sent me and will understand that you love them as much as you love me." The Road to Jerusalem Conference has brought scriptural awareness to our local Christian body and we are working, standing, and praying together as one, bringing effective change of our community and expanding the Kingdom of God according to Romans 1:16 "...to the Jew first"!

In His Love,
